Tennis player and coach during his years at Centre

Had an undefeated season and won the singles crown in the KIAC in 1949

Led the team to three KIAC Championships

His three year Centre record was 48 wins and 10 losses

At age 15, he was the Junior Champion of Louisville and ranked 26th nationally

Known as a top tennis teacher, he coached several ranked players

One of the founders of the Kentucky State Tennis Association

Served as president of the organization for two years
