Eileen is the first All-American ever for the Centre cross country program, paving the way for one of the most successful teams at the college over the last 15 years. Eileen earned All-America honors in cross country in each of her first two seasons with the Colonels, with her All-America performance in 2003 selected by the SCAC as one of the conference’s top 20 cross country moments of all time. In 2006, Eileen was named to the SCAC’s 15-year anniversary team for cross country, the only active athlete at the time to make such a prestigious list.Â
In track, Eileen earned All-Conference honors all four years in the 10k and twice in the 5k, winning both races in 2004 and 2005. She still holds the SCAC record in the 5k.Â
Coach Lisa Owens captures Eileen Schilling best in a newspaper quote during Eileen's run at Nationals during her first year. "Owens said, ‘Schilling was 42nd with a mile to go, part of a pack of eight runners that would be on separated by only two seconds in the battle for the final All-American position. It was a race to the end,' Owens said, 'I was yelling at her, and we had most of our team there telling her where she was. Near the finish she pulls out to the left and just passes the whole pack. She is a small girl – only 85 pounds – but she had a motor inside of her.’"Â
