Cheryl Lewis started strong on the basketball court for the Lady Colonels and never let up for four years and 87 games. At the conclusion of her freshman season, she was named the team's Most Valuable Player after leading the team in both scoring and rebounding, and was the only Centre player selected to the all-tournament team of the Kentucky Women's Intercollegiate Conference Small College Tournament. Things just improved from there.
She was a four-year starter at guard, and was named the co-captain of the team during her sophomore, junior, and senior seasons. The team's leading scorer for much of her career, Cheryl was the first woman in Centre history to reach the 1,000 point mark, finishing her career with 1,103 points. Her career free-throw shooting percentage of 79% still ranks among the highest in Centre history. Not just a prolific scorer, she was one of the team's leading rebounders as a 5'6" guard, ending her career with 415 rebounds.
