A standout for four years in football and basketball, Edgar Allen Diddle was a member of the famous Praying Colonels as a blocking back in the 1917-1920 seasons. He was a star on Centre's unbeaten Southern Championship basketball team in 1919. Diddle was inducted into both the Helms Foundation and Naismith Memorial Basketball Halls of Fame. When Coach Diddle retired from Western Kentucky in 1964, he held NCAA records for seasons coached (42), most NCAA victories (759) and most games coached at one college (1061). He also had 18 seasons with 20 or more wins, along with eight NIT and three NCAA Tournament appearances.
