Hall of Fame
Jon Oldham is one of five male Centre swimmers or divers who have received All-American recognition. As a freshman, he finished in third place at the 1994 Nationals in the 200-butterfly, the event that became his specialty. However, Jon’s excellence was not limited to just one event.Â
As a freshman, he was undefeated against non-scholarship competition and set four Centre individual records and was part of four relay records. He qualified again for nationals as a sophomore and was named Honorable Mention-All American in both the 100- and 200- butterfly. His junior season, he set school records in four events other than the butterfly—the 1,000-free, the 50-free, the 100-back, and the 200 individual medley. He was the high-point scorer at the SCAC meet that season. His senior season, he again received Honorable Mention All-American status with his performance at Nationals in the 200-back.Â
When Jon left the pool as a senior, he held eight Centre individual records, five relay records, and four pool records. His time of 1:53.94 in the 200-back at Nationals during his final swim for Centre still stands as the school record for that event. It remains one of only three men’s team records to stand for longer than three years.
