The outstanding track and field athlete of his era at Centre College
Considered the best in the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference during his three year career
In 1959, he won three field events in the KIAC meet at the conclusion of the season – the broad jump, discus, and shot put
Placed second in the 220-yard dash and third in the 100-yard dash
Amassing 20 of the Centre team’s 21 points, his shot put effort established a new conference record
In his three years as a track and field competitor, he accounted for a record 358 total points for his team over ive meets
As a junior, Grissom won 24 of the 25 events he entered
Grissom was also a varsity letterman in football
In the classroom, Grissom was named to the Dean’s List in his sophomore and junior years before leaving Centre to attend law school
The charismatic and civic leader has continued to make a difference at Centre College, providing generous support to his alma mater and encouraging others to do so
Grissom served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees from 1983 to 2008
