Known as one of the finest all-around athletes in Centre's history, Fred Arnicar was an outstanding football, baseball and track athlete. He was named All-SIAA tackle and All-Dixie in 1931. During his athletic career at Centre College, he was captain of the track team in 1930 and co-captain of the football team in 1931.. In track, he broke Kentucky SIAA records in the shot put and discus. Fred "Lefty' Arnicar continued his athletic career in semi-pro baseball. When he returned to Centre in 1946 as business manager, Fred also took on the responsibility of coaching the freshman football team.
