Hall of Fame
Our first inductee is Kevin Chapman, Centre graduating class of 2000. Kevin played a huge role in the early successes of two of Centre’s longest tenured and most decorated coaches ever, Lisa Owens and Andy Frye. Kevin is one of the first standard bearers of the Centre men’s track & field program, as he was a conference champion eight times – six as an individual and two as part of a relay. During his time with the Colonels he set six different school records – two in the 100m and the other four in relays. Kevin performed best under the biggest pressure, as his eight conference titles will attest. In his last three years at Centre he was undefeated in the 100m and 200m at the SCAC Championships. He was named to the SCAC’s 15th Anniversary team in 2006, and his times in both the 200m and 4x400m relay ranked in the top five in conference history at the time of that induction. Kevin Chapman set the standard that has been continued by today’s Centre sprinters, including two-time national champion JP Vaught and the men’s 4x100m relay squad, who broke the last of Kevin’s records that stood in 2021.
In addition to his successes on the track, Kevin was a three-year letter winner for Centre football and was a vital part of Andy Frye’s first teams as a head coach, as he was an All-Conference running back as a senior in 1999.Â
After graduating from Centre, Kevin earned a Master’s degree in clinical psychology and a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of Louisville. Kevin’s accomplishments as a clinical psychologist, media psychologist and sports performance psychologist are countless. He is considered a Master Clinician and Expert in cognitive behavioral therapy for anxiety and related disorders, and is the founder and director of the Kentucky Center for Anxiety and Related Disorders. He has served as a sports performance psychologist as well, serving as the official team psychologist for Louisville City FC and Racing Louisville FC. He has recorded over 50 publications in scientific journals, books and popular press.Â
